A Major Leap Toward Structural Transformation: University of Kurdistan Approves 19 Strategic Agendas in Board of Trustees Meeting
According to the University of Kurdistan Public Relations, the meeting was held on Monday, February 2, 2026 (13 Bahman 1404) at the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. It was attended by Dr. Hassan Marovvati, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Minister of Science; Dr. Seyed Ahmadreza Khezri, Advisor to the Minister and Chair of the Permanent Commission of the Board of Trustees; and Dr. Adel Si-o-se Mardeh, President of the University of Kurdistan. Following a comprehensive performance report on research, technology, and resource management, 19 strategic agendas were ratified. Notable resolutions included the revision of faculty employment bylaws and a new scoring directive for research activities centered on social responsibility and industry engagement, effective as of September 2025.
Regarding structural development and alignment with the Higher Education Zoning Plan, the Board approved splitting the Department of Mathematics into two distinct departments: "Mathematics" and "Computer Science." Similarly, the Department of Physical Education was divided into "Sports Management and Motor Behavior" and "Physiology and Sports Pathology." Additionally, several faculty and department names were updated to reflect new scientific missions. Other significant outcomes included the approval of tenure-track recruitment for assistant professors for the 2026-2027 academic year and the establishment of a demand-driven, self-governing research group. The Board also endorsed the hosting of the "Hawraman" International Conference and a plan for asset optimization to ensure sustainable investment and value addition. In conclusion, Ministry officials commended the university’s scientific and executive achievements, stressing the importance of continued strategic planning to bolster the university's socio-cultural impact in the region.
