To enhance crisis management readiness and capabilities, a workshop on Passive Defense was conducted for dormitory supervisors and security personnel at the University of Kurdistan, featuring the Director-General of Passive Defense from the Kurdistan Governor's Office. The session underscored the necessity of constant vigilance and the university's pivotal role in raising public awareness.

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, the workshop was held on Monday, November 3, 2025, in the university's conference hall, with the participation of Mr. Keivan Veisi, Director-General of Passive Defense for the Kurdistan Governorate. The event aimed to empower security staff and dormitory supervisors to effectively respond to modern crises and threats.

The University: A Pioneer in Public Awareness
Mr. Veisi defined passive defense as "a set of non-military measures that enhance national resilience, stability, and facilitate crisis management." He added, "As a leading academic and cultural institution, the university can spearhead the dissemination of passive defense awareness to various sectors of society." Emphasizing the continuous nature of modern threats, he described the vigilance of university operational staff as vital. He identified principles such as rational decision-making in critical situations, countering disinformation, neutralizing psychological warfare, and protecting the lives and property of students as fundamental tenets of passive defense within the university environment.

University Staff: The Frontline of Student Interaction
At the beginning of the session, Mr. Meysam Montashelou, Head of the Document Protection Office at the University's Security Directorate, stated that the workshop's goal was to promote awareness and discourse on the subject. "Security personnel and dormitory supervisors, being at the forefront of interaction with the student community, play a key role in preventing potential risks and managing situations effectively," he remarked. He expressed hope that the continuation of such specialized meetings would foster an environment of prevention and optimal crisis management across all university dimensions.

The workshop concluded with a question-and-answer session between the attendees and the Director-General.
