According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, the workshop took place on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the University Counseling Center. Attendees included counselors from the center, dormitory advisors, and members of the Student Mental Health Association.
During the session, Dr. Mohammadpanah emphasized the necessity of targeted education in addiction prevention, stating, "In some cases, broad and non-specialized information campaigns for adolescents and young adults can have counterproductive outcomes. Therefore, it is imperative that awareness and educational initiatives in this field are conducted scientifically and professionally."
He further elaborated on the structure of the Kurdistan Provincial Drug Control Headquarters, explaining its four main committees:
-

Supply Reduction Committee: Chaired by the Provincial Police Commander, its mission is to control and prevent drug distribution. Iran ranks first globally in this domain.
 -

Cultural and Prevention Committee: Comprising all cultural institutions, it focuses its activities on four key environments: family, neighborhood, educational centers, and the workplace, aiming to curb the rise in addiction rates.
 -

Treatment Committee: Headed by the Minister of Health, with membership from organizations such as the State Welfare Organization, the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation, the Technical and Vocational Training Organization, and the Judiciary. Dr. Mohammadpanah noted that Kurdistan is considered one of the provinces with a lower prevalence of addiction in the country.
 -

Public Participation Committee: Composed of licensed non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The workshop was conducted in an interactive and educational atmosphere, allowing participants to exchange experiences and familiarize themselves with the latest approaches and policies in addiction prevention.
